Mercedes-Benz has launched two electric models of its CLA, both of which can charge up to 315km (195 miles) of range in just 10 minutes.
The CLA 250+ Shooting Brake with EQ Technology and the CLA 350 4MATIC Shooting Brake with EQ Technology both feature a lithium-ion battery with a usable energy capacity of 85 kilowatt hours (kWh).
Both also have a “state-of-the-art 800 volt electric architecture” which allows 315km of range to be added in just ten minutes.
The CLA 250+ has a total range of up to 768km (477 miles) and has a starting price of £50,083. The CLA 350 4MATIC Shooting Brake with EQ Technology has slightly less range but has two motors and all-wheel drive, which means a power output of 260kWh.

Mathias Geisen, one of Mercedes’ board members, described the all-electric CLA Shooting Brake as “a true game-changer”, saying it delivers “sport performance together with generous space and versatility”.
“It [the CLA 250] redefines everyday driving,” Geisen said. He went on to say that for customers the new models mean “more room for individuality, for adventure, and for personal lifestyle”.
The models also have navigation systems that plan the journeys based on charging stops by working with Google Cloud’s new Automotive AI Agent. It works by automatically adjusting the vehicle’s charging settings to make it easier to charge up the battery along the route. It does this by “preconditioning the battery” to make sure it is at the “optimum temperature” for charging.
