Octopus Energy will include storage batteries from AlphaESS UK in its intelligent tariffs as part of its Zero Bills initiative in a deal designed to offer more value for billpayers.

AlphaESS’ storage batteries are now compatible with Octopus Energy’s intelligent Flux tariff, as well as having built-in functionality that can optimise other dynamic tariffs, including Intelligent Go, Octopus Go and Cosy Octopus.

AlphaESS UK managing director, Mark Hale said the would partnership unlock “more value” for homeowners. Hale claimed it will also create an opportunity for installers and distributors to grow in the booming UK energy storage market.

“Our integration with Octopus Energy’s intelligent flux tariff and built-in functionality that can optimise other dynamic tariffs, including Intelligent Go, Octopus Go, and Cosy Octopus, marks a significant milestone for AlphaESS UK and for the wider residential energy storage market,” he said.

“By combining our technology with the smart capability of Octopus tariffs, we are helping households take greater control of their energy use, make meaningful savings, and adopt cleaner, smarter power.”

AlphaESS systems now automatically respond to Octopus Energy’s half-hourly pricing that aims to help households benefit from low and selling high, while getting the most from their solar generation.

On top of that, all AlphaESS residential products, from its Smile B3 through to Smile G3 and Smile T10 have been tested and verified until the Works with Octopus program and selected tariff compatibility.

Homeowners also benefit from complete oversight via the AlphaCloud app, while the Octopus Kraken platform manages intelligent scheduling and optimisation in the background.

The AlphaESS home energy storage systems support up to 200% PV input, enabling home supply and battery charging. According to Hale, this makes the range one of the most efficient and flexible solutions on the UK market.

He said: “When combined with the proven performance and competitive pricing of AlphaESS systems, the result is a compelling proposition for developers, installers, and home buyers.

“With the AlphaESS integration, participating new builds can be marketed with no home energy bills for at least 10 years. This creates a unique selling point for developers and a powerful reason for homeowners to choose a Zero Bills property.”
