Octopus Energy and Project Solar win big at the Solar Satisfaction Awards

• Octopus Energy wins Best Overall Solar Panel Installer at first Solar Satisfaction Awards
• The UK’s biggest energy company also takes ‘Most Recommended’, ‘Best Value for Money’ and others
• Project Solar named ‘Best for Energy Bills’

Octopus Energy is the best solar installer in the UK, according to the first-ever Solar Satisfaction Survey from The Eco Experts. 

The UK’s biggest energy provider was named ‘Best Solar Panel Overall’ following our survey of homeowners from across the UK that explored their solar purchasing, installation and billsaving experiences.

On top of being named the ‘Best Overall’, Octopus was also named ‘Best Value for Money’, ‘Most Recommended’, ‘Best Customer Service’, and ‘Best Installation Experience’. In total, Octopus Energy won five out of the six awards, with the ‘Best for Energy Bills’ award going to Project Solar.

Reacting to the award, William Georgiadis, The Eco Experts’ managing editor, said it’s no surprise that customers voted so overwhelmingly for Octopus Energy and Project Solar.

“Octopus Energy has demonstrated over many years that it’s one of the UK’s leading energy companies. Its emphasis on clean and renewable energy and technology has given it a massive edge over others in the market.

Clean energy saves the day

Octopus Energy is known to be a company that prioritises clean energy. The company matches 100% of the electricity it generates with energy from renewable sources, such as wind or solar. 

It makes it really easy to use solar panels by offering fixed and flexible tariffs that let you export unused energy back to the grid by the Smart Export Guarantee, including one that tracks the wholesale energy price, meaning customers’ rates are updated daily.   

Since 2017 Octopus Energy has saved customers a combined £1bn, with more than £200mn being cut from bills in the last 12 months alone. It achieves this through solar panels, heat pumps and also offering smart tariffs that allow customers to access cheaper energy when it is available. 

Octopus Energy’s success at the Solar Satisfaction Awards follows similar glory at our sister title Expert Reviews’ Home Energy Awards in November 2025, when it was named ‘Best Energy Provider’.

His most recent sustainability-related work came much closer to home, as he investigated the eco-challenges faced by independent retailers in the UK, specifically looking at how they can cut emissions and continue to thrive.

Max lives in South London and is an avid reader of books on modern history. He has also recently learned to play the game Mahjong and takes every opportunity to do so. He is also yet to find a sport he doesn’t enjoy watching.
