As the solar power industry grows, the price of solar panels falls, and more companies enter the market, it’s important to keep up to date on who’s reliable and who isn’t.
We’re here to tell you about Project Solar, one of the UK’s top solar panel installers. With a premium quality range of solar PV modules and an excellent customer service record, Project Solar are a wise choice if you’re thinking of switching to solar power.

Who is Project Solar?
Founded in 2010 by a friendly man called Simon Peat, Project Solar has steadily become one of the leading solar panel installers in the country. They’re based in Stockport, Cheshire, but their reach stretches far and wide.
The company has nearly 10 years of experience in the solar power industry, having more than 15,000 installations to its name. Clearly, these folks know their solar apples.
• Project Solar is a member of Home Insulation & Energy System (HIES), a consumer protection organisation focussed on the renewable energy industry. All members of HIES are bound by a particular code of practice, and any dissatisfied consumer can go to HIES and request the help of industry inspectors.
• The company is also a Which? Trusted Trader, so you can rest assured that Project Solar has the backing of the UK’s largest consumer organisation.
So what does Project Solar have to offer? They currently provide three different types of solar panel, the EVO Ultramax, the EVO Ultramax Plus, and the SunPower E20 Series. Here are the key features of each model.
The EVO Ultramax is an impressive bit of kit, made from monocrystalline silicon with PERC technology. In plain English, this means that the panel is made from top-quality materials, capable of high-efficiency performance. The Ultramax comes with 5 busbars (which decreases its natural energy loss), and an ultra-reflective backing sheet to increase its sunlight absorption.
• Power output: 330W
• Maximum efficiency: 19.66%
• Weight: 20kg
• Product warranty: lifetime
• Linear output warranty: no less than 85% of its original output after 25 years
EVO Ultramax Plus
The EVO Ultramax Plus is exactly the same as the EVO Ultramax, except it’s ‘Tigo optimised’. This means that there’s a Tigo TS4-R platform attached to the back of it, which improves the energy-harvesting potential of your solar PV system. But how does it work?
A common problem that some solar panels face is known as ‘mismatch’, which is when the output of a panel is limited by the performance of its worst cell. Even if the majority of the panel is basking in direct sunlight and churning out electricity, a small portion of the panel sitting in the shade can undermine the whole process. The power that’s being generated by the sunny solar cells can be dissipated by the shady cells. It’s the complete opposite of teamwork.
Thankfully, Tigo will make sure this doesn’t happen. If your solar PV system is partially shaded, the TS4-R will recover about 36% of the energy that would otherwise be lost. Cop that.
Sunpower E20 Series 327W
This is the best that Project Solar has to offer, created by world class solar panel manufacturers Sunpower. The E20 Series model is comprised of unique Maxeon® solar cells, which are designed to be extremely resistant to harsh weather, corrosion, and breakage. According to Sunpower, Maxeon® cells are immune to 85% of the common causes of solar cell deterioration. The cell’s ‘all-back-contact’ design also improves its efficiency, so it really makes hay while the sun shines.
• Power output: 327W
• Maximum efficiency: 20.1%
• Weight: 18.6kg
• Product warranty: 10 years
• Linear output warranty: no less than 90% of its original output after 25 years
