Watch episode 14 of Positive Energy – powered by The Eco Experts, with Mark Millar, CEO & Founder of Puredrive Energy, in conversation with Sam Pamphlon

For episode 14 of Positive Energy, we’re proud to welcome Mark Millar, CEO & Founder of Puredrive Energy, to speak about everything storage battery related.

Mark is a Chartered engineer and battery storage expert. With over 30 years’ experience in the storage batteries business, he now works alongside American battery giant Duracell to help it grow the Duracell Energy brand in the UK and become the go-to domestic and small commercial energy solutions provider.

Mark Millar launched Puredrive Energy in 2016 in order to deliver the highest-performing home storage batteries across the domestic market and he has seen how storage batteries have become more affordable and accessible in that time.

Puredrive Energy is a company dedicated to helping consumers achieve energy independence by transitioning to the lowest-cost green energy. Puredrive’s goal is to “supply products and services that significantly reduce your energy bill and carbon footprint.”

These products include home electric vehicle (EV) chargers, and home and commercial storage batteries.

In this episode of Positive Energy, we spoke to Mark about why people should consider getting a storage battery to reduce their energy bill, even if they don’t have solar panels. We also spoke about the lifespan and afterlife of storage batteries.

As he explained, the biggest benefit of investing in a home storage battery is “the savings on the electricity bill.”

“The average bill for a home is around £1,000. Just from using a solar and battery, I’m saving £600 of that bill.”

We were also keen to talk about the future of battery storage, with the potential of sodium batteries a particular passion of Mark’s, as lithium deposits become more remote and difficult to mine. In regards to other low-carbon technology, Mark told us about EV integration, how batteries work with a heat pump, and the role domestic wind turbines might play in the coming years.

He also helped us demystify energy management, and explained the upfront costs and payback periods of batteries.
