BiLight, a global PV manufacturer, has unveiled a rollable ‘solar curtain’, that it says can supply electricity directly to home and office devices.
Announced at the CES event in Las Vegas earlier in January, the ‘solar curtain’ integrates sunshade and heat insulation to supply stable energy under ordinary indoor lighting.
It is extremely thin, being just 0.1mm and weighs less than 150g per square metre. It is designed to mount on standard curtain rails and converts natural or artificial indoor light into electricity, with BiLight claiming an efficiency rate of about 18%.

Alongside the ‘solar curtain’ was an electronic nameplate powered by a PV cell, which operates under normal indoor lighting.
When paired with Bluetooth technology, it delivers what BiLight called “seamless charging and permanent use”, and eliminates the need for batteries and recharging.
The third product BiLight released was a rollable, flexible solar panel, designed for use in outdoor activities, such as camping or hiking. It can be carried in a standard rucksack thanks to being foldable and having a textile-like structure.
According to BiLight, its latest products are “reshaping” the PV application ecosystem. The company said it will continue to research and develop specialist PV products that target domestic and commercial markets.
James Fang, BiLight’s CEO, released what he called a “three-year product roadmap” to achieve what it calls “Energy Equity”, a goal to make green energy accessible to everyone.
