- E.ON customers will pay off the value of their assets through a fixed rate finance agreement of up to 10 years
- The 12-month pilot has been made available to 20 E.ON Next customers in the Midlands
- Those taking part in the 12-month trial will also receive a 90% reduction on the cost of installed assets
E.ON Next has unveiled plans to make low-carbon technology , such as solar panels and heat pumps, more affordable for UK homeowners by combining several home energy systems into one simply financed, easy-to-manage package with no upfront cost.
Called Next Gen Home, the new package will start as a 12-month pilot and has been made available to 20 E.ON Next customers across the Midlands from 1 July. There are plans to roll out the program to all eligible UK households in early 2026.
Ramona Vlasiu, chief operating officer, E.ON Next, said the program will allow customers to benefit from around £20,000 worth of energy saving equipment, without paying a lump sum. These include solar panels, batteries, a heat pump and servicing, an EV charger, and a home energy app.
Instead, customers will pay off the value of their assets through a fixed rate finance agreement of up to 10 years and make monthly payments based on their existing energy consumption and affordable pricing.
Those taking part in the 12-month trial will also receive a 90% reduction on the cost of installed assets, paying for just one of the 10-year contract.

“By removing the upfront cost, Next Gen Home will use state-of-the-art digital technology to optimise energy use to meet the needs of individual households, making greener, cheaper, and more energy-efficient properties a reality for more people,” Vlasiu said.
The Next Gen Home trial, according to Vlasiu, aims to show that, with proper financing schemes in place, sustainable homes can become a reality for the many, not just the few.
“We believe that greener energy choices should be available to everyone, not just the affluent,” Vlasiu explained. “If we can remove the burden of large upfront costs, there is greater potential to help lower customers’ carbon emissions and bills, and help more people to invest in their own homes in the long-term.
“We know energy bills can be unpredictable – that’s why this plan is designed to give customers clarity and control over their energy spend, with one monthly cost that reflects their usage and adopts fairly over time”.
The company also recently launched a battery trial with Northern Powergrid, which is providing customers in Crowle and Starbeck with free batteries to lower households’ monthly bills by up to 15%.
Earlier this month, E.ON also announced a $4m investment in Allume Energy to support the growth of SolShare – a technology that overcomes the technical and ownership barriers that have prevented people living in flats. It achieves this by delivering each resident’s solar allocation when they’re using energy and they benefit from free solar energy as a result.
