Anker SOLIX has introduced the Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro, its next generation plug-and-play balcony solar battery storage system.

The Solarbank 4 Pro boasts 5,000 watts (W) of solar output, 5,000 watt-hours (Wh) of storage capacity, and a 10,000-cycle lifespan.

The Solarbank 4Pro is available to purchase across Europe, in countries where plug-in-solar is currently fully allowed. It is not yet available in the UK, but it will be once the government passes laws allowing plug and play (solar under 8000W).

Ministers said in April that it would update the law to allow people to have solar panels on their balconies and in open spaces “within months”.

The Solarbank 4 Pro comes with two different modes which can be used depending on what you need. Under the basic 800W mode, you can connect the Solarbank directly to their existing home circuit without any wiring changes. The system immediately begins to cover a household’s power consumption.

If 800W isn’t enough to cover household needs, customers can upgrade  to PluginPower™ 2.0, which boasts a whopping 2,500W grid-tied output mode. This has passed TÜV safety verifications, which is the German equivalent of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), to ensure that the increased power is safe.

The 2,500W option is for those who want to rely on the grid as little as possible. Unused solar energy is moved straight into the household circuit, which lets you use it for other devices, such as a heat pump.

These two modes make sure no solar energy is wasted. Based on the Solarbank 4 Pro system’s 2500W output power compared to typical household electricity demand, it covers 95% of household appliances, and its modular design can be expanded up to 30kWh for even more coverage if necessary. According to Anker SOLIX, this means bills should be significantly lower.

Anker SOLIX recommends pairing the system with their Smart Meter Gen 2 regardless of which mode is used, meaning customers will be able to gather reliable, real-time data about their solar system and manage it accordingly.

The Solarbank 4 Pro uses Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) to allow a power input of up to 5,000W. This is what ensures that the battery is always working to its full potential.

Twelve solar panels can be connected to the battery, which is triple the capacity of standard plug-and-play systems.

In case of a powercut or off-grid scenario, the system automatically detects a lack of power and within ten milliseconds, switches to the off-grid port.

Anker SOLIX’s InfiniPower™ technology is combined with automotive-grade solar cells in order to guarantee longevity, as well as 100% depth of discharge (DoD), which is the percentage of a battery’s total energy capacity that can be used. This means the Solarbank 4 Pro can last for 15 years.

As well as 10,000 charge cycles, the battery supports daily solar charging and off-peak rate cycling, focusing on peak-price windows daily in order to save more on consumer energy bills.

From a physical standpoint, the storage unit has an IP66 standard and a C5 certification for corrosion resistance. This means that it can be used in harsher environments, meaning you can have it out in the garden during cold weather, as well as on a balcony. It can work in temperatures as low as -20°C and as high as 55°C. It also  has seven protective layers to stop it short circuiting.

The Solarbank 4 Pro operates on Anker PowerOS, offering intelligent energy scheduling and hands-free control via the AnkaAI voice assistant. Like many other solar storage batteries, it autonomously optimises charging based on real-time weather and uses data from over 870 electricity providers in order to benefit from dynamic tariffs.
